Pre-operative Identification of OSA

Is the patient known to have OSA?

You have selected that the patient is known to have OSA. No further screening is necessary. You can proceed to the "Day of Surgery" tab to review appropriate surgical settings for the patient.

You have selected that the patient is not known to have OSA

Unless there are exceptions to screening, you should now proceed to pre-operative screening

The exceptions to a need for a STOP-Bang questionnaire are:

  1. Patients with a diagnosis of OSA
  2. Patients undergoing procedures where polysomnography is performed as part of the accepted preoperative workup e.g. bariatric surgery.
